When I first saw this digital image from My Besties I knew that I had to give it some colour! I decided that it was the perfect day to sit outside in my backyard & colour the image in the glorious sunshine. I took my Copic markers, some music & settled down for a few hours of colouring. The music was gently playing & I could hear the birds chirping & singing in the trees. It was such a beautiful day, with peaceful surroundings & having some quiet, alone time was the sweetest thing that had happened to me all week.
After finishing the colouring of the image, it was time to start decorating the design. I added some stickles to parts of the image to give it a little extra sparkle & some liquid pearls to the background to add a little bit of interest. The butterfly looks quite cute which I embellished with two little beads.
Some of the supplies I used were Magnolia Paris Night & Lovely Fence Doohickey dies. Out came the Frantage embossing powder that I had never used before. I was nicely surprised that it gave the fence & the lamp post the texture & a rustic look that I was going for. I surrounded the fence with lots of beautiful flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts to give it a floral garden feel.
It needed more flowers so I added some more in the top right-hand corner of the design & thought a tag wouldn’t go astray either. I used seam binding & some soft tulle to give it a more delicate touch.
For the rest of the design, I used embellishments from my craft stash that I’ve had for some time. This includes the lace, ribbon, flower buttons, flower charm, pearls & the cute metal flower embellishments. The purple heart & ‘the sweetest thing’ sentiment came from my ‘challenge pieces’ jar. It’s always a good feeling when I’m able to use something out of the jar as it’s full of little treasures I may have otherwise thrown away.
I knew that I would be listing this design on Etsy so I decided to create it on a canvas. The back stand was created out of chipboard so that it could stand & be placed on a table top inside someone’s home.
I really enjoyed putting this design together & love the way it turned out 🙂 What do you think? Which part of the design do you like the best? Let me know in the comments as I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
